Who we are

Sift is made by WanderFrame Studios (the “developer”, “we”, “us”).

Your screenshots and photos

• Sift requests access to your Photos library so it can read your screenshots and file them into albums inside a folder called SiftScreenshots.
• All reading and AI analysis happens on your device. The AI model is downloaded once and then runs offline.
• We never receive, transmit, or store your screenshots, their contents, the text within them, or your album names. None of that leaves your phone.
• If you delete Sift, the albums it created remain in your Photos library.

Anonymous usage analytics

To understand how the app is used and to find and fix bugs, Sift collects anonymous, aggregated product analytics using PostHog, hosted in the European Union.

What is collected

• Product interaction events — for example: onboarding steps viewed, a sort run started/finished (and counts of how many screenshots were processed), an album created, a feature limit reached, feedback prompts answered, model download started/finished. Representative event names: onboarding_step_viewed, sorting_started, sorting_completed, album_created, feature_limit_hit, model_preparation_finished, review_decision, feedback_mood_selected, sift_error.
• A device identifier — a random, app-generated ID used to group events from the same installation. It is not your Apple ID, phone number, email, or advertising identifier.
• Diagnostic and crash data — errors and crash information, used to fix problems.
• Basic device/app properties — such as device model and app/iOS version.

What is never collected

Your screenshots, the contents or text of any screenshot, your album names, or any other content you create. A technical safeguard (a property allowlist) strips anything not explicitly permitted before any event is sent.

Tracking

We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not share data with advertising networks or data brokers. Geolocation lookup is disabled on our analytics. Because of this, Sift does not show an App Tracking Transparency prompt.

Legal basis, processor, retention

• Legal basis (GDPR): our legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the app.
• Processor: PostHog acts as our data processor and hosts this data in the EU.
• Retention: analytics events are retained only as long as needed for product analysis and are subject to PostHog's standard retention.

Your control / opt-out

You can turn analytics off completely at any time in Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous analytics inside the app. When off, no further analytics events are sent.

The AI model download

The first time you enable smart sorting, Sift downloads the on-device AI model (~1.2 GB) from Hugging Face. This is a download of model files to your device. As with any download, the hosting provider (Hugging Face) can see your device's IP address for the duration of the download. The model files themselves contain none of your data, and no screenshots or personal data are sent during the download.

Contacting support

If you email us feedback from within the app, your email app includes basic diagnostic text (app version, device model, iOS version) so we can help. This is sent only if you choose to send the email, through your own mail app.

Children

Sift is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the EU GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Because our analytics are anonymous and not linked to your identity, we generally cannot single out an individual's data — but you can stop all collection immediately using the in-app opt-out. We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “Last updated” date.
