How does Sift sort my screenshots?
On the Dashboard, tap AI Sort. Sift works through your newest screenshots, reads what's in each one on your device, and files it into the album it best fits. Anything it can't confidently place goes to the review queue, where you can file it yourself or accept a suggested new album.
Why does Sift need access to all my photos?
Sift needs full photo access to read your screenshots and to create and manage albums. With limited access it can't create albums or see the ones it made before, so it will ask you to switch to All Photos in Settings. Your photos are only ever read on your device — nothing is uploaded.
What's the one-time download when I turn on smart sorting?
The AI that sorts your screenshots runs entirely on your iPhone, so its model (~1.2 GB) has to be downloaded once. Use Wi-Fi. After that, sorting works offline with no network at all. You can skip it during setup and download it later from the Dashboard.
The model download stopped — what now?
Just tap Resume. Sift picks up where it left off, so you won't lose what's already downloaded. A stable Wi-Fi connection helps it finish.
Where do my screenshots actually go?
Into ordinary albums in your own Photos library, inside a folder called
SiftScreenshots. They're real Photos albums — if you delete Sift, every album it made is still
sitting in your library.
Do my screenshots ever leave my phone?
No. Reading and sorting happen entirely on your device. Sift only sends anonymous, aggregated usage and crash data to help fix bugs — never your screenshots, their contents, or your album names. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.
How do I turn off analytics?
Go to Settings → Privacy in the app and switch off Share anonymous analytics. When it's off, nothing further is sent.
A screenshot landed in the wrong album.
You can move it in the Photos app or refile it in Sift. Sorting quality depends a lot on each album's description — being specific (e.g. “Receipts, order confirmations, delivery emails” rather than “stuff”) helps Sift match far better.
